As part of a Power Purchase Agreement (AAE) group led by the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC), Origin will provide municipalities with solar electricity from the 56 MW Moree solar farm in north NSW. Origin will supply solar power to 20 Sydney municipalities in a new renewable energy agreement that will cover up to 35% of their needs. Origin will also consolidate solar power with electricity from other sources, such as peak gas plants, to ensure councils have a reliable supply when the sun goes down. Partner Anna Collyer commented on the deal and said the ECA showed that there was flexibility in the market to negotiate better electricity deals. The AAA SSROC follows similar agreements for a fixed supply of renewable energy negotiated by Origin with the University of NSW and Sydney Airport. Allens advised the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) in its long-term power purchase agreement (ECA) with Origin Energy.
