STD Treatment Overview
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections transferred from person to person during any form of intercourse. STDs are very common, and oftentimes don’t show noticeable symptoms. Some cases can be tricky, given that some symptoms of other STDs overlap others, or mimic other diseases and illnesses, and some symptoms of STDs are impossible to ignore. The only surefire way of detecting an infection or disease is by being tested.
At Instant Tele Care, we can diagnose and treat common STDs such as:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhea
- Genital Warts
- Syphilis
- Pubic Lice
- & More
It is possible to contract sexually transmitted diseases from individuals that show no symptoms. It is important to remember the importance of getting tested for an STD, especially if symptoms emerge. If you believe you’ve been exposed to an STD, be sure to book an online visit to Instant Tele Care for diagnosis and treatment.
Chlamydia Treatment
Chlamydia is a bacterial infection spread by sexual contact. It is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States. Approximately 90% of those who get chlamydia don’t display symptoms, and therefore can spread it to their sexual partners, unknowingly. However, the symptoms of chlamydia may include:
- Painful urination
- Vaginal or penile discharge
- Pelvic or abdominal pain
- Testicular pain
- Eye discharge
- Joint pains
- Menstrual spotting
- Pain with intercourse
The risk of getting chlamydia is greater if you have a new sexual partner, more than one sexual partner, or if you had chlamydia before and have sex with a partner that was never treated for this infection. For this reason, protection with condoms is always advised with any new partners. Routine STI screenings prior to starting a sexual relationship with a partner are also preventable actions from getting chlamydia.
Diagnosing chlamydia does not require testing but a healthcare provider will order it. Treatment is usually with a one time dose of prescription antibiotics. Both partners need treatment otherwise the infection may be spread back and forth. Symptoms usually resolve within 48 hours of treatment. Treatment is very important as chlamydia can cause complications as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), a severe pelvic infection. PID may prevent women from easily getting pregnant.
